'Woodbine Cottage' is situated in the village of Newcastleton in the Scottish Borders.

A haven for wildlife enthusiasts, the surrounding countryside has an abundance of things to see and do. Bird watchers can visit the nearby grouse moors to watch grouse, curlew and golden plover amongst others.

Walking, fishing, golfing, tennis are all available locally. The '7 stanes' mountain bike trails offer routes for those who like a challenge and routes for those who prefer a more leisurely ride. The nearby Rock UK centre offers many activities from gorge walking, abseiling, archery and a 300m zip wire!

Liddesdale is typically known as 'Border Reiver Territory'. Hermitage Castle, 5 miles away, is one of the oldest surviving castles in Scotland, an awesome, eerie ruin, set in a lovely spot, has a history filled with intrigue, murders, trysts, torture and treason.

Newcastleton or 'Copshaw Holm' as it is know locally, hosts a traditional music festival every year, as well as the 'Holm Show', a small traditional agricultural show.
