Activities in and around Newcastleton

In Newcastleton you can enjoy many leisure activities such as Bird Watching and great walks by the river or through the woods, if you enjoy fishing that is also catered for with fishing permits and advice available from the local shop. 

Newcastleton is also regarded as a hot spot for mountain bikers with the 7 Stanes Trailhead just outside the village at Newcastleton forest that also has a great meadow for Grown-ups and children to explore and enjoy when not mountain biking. 

The river running adjacent to the village has plenty of seating areas to relax during the day and on the warm summer nights with very peaceful surroundings. 

Throughout the year we have a number of village event, The Copshaw Common Riding and the Newcastleton Music Festival, we also have an event to showcase rural life and fine local crafts called the Holm Show that is on for one day but perfect for the whole family. Locally there are plenty of tourist attractions such as Hermitage Castle and with a short drive you can visit Langholm or spend a day exploring Kielder forest and Water park.

If your looking to take in some shopping while on holiday then a half hour drive will take you to the heart of Carlisle, and if your looking to travel further carry on down the motor way to the lake district.
